Barry Chuckle has passed away.
Comedian, children’s entertainer and one-half of the Chuckle Bros., Barry has died at the age of 73. According to the BBC, the star – whose real name was Barry Elliott – passed away following a short period of illness.
His brother and showbiz partner, Paul said: “I’ve not just lost my brother, I’ve lost my theatrical partner of many, many years and my very best friend.”
Barry and his brother Paul have been on the entertainment circuit since 1967. As well as various shows, on television and on stage, the due spearheaded Children’s BBC show, ChuckleVision, which ran from 1987 to 2009 and clocked up almost 300 episodes.
Since the news broke of Barry’s death, many fans and stars have taken to social media to pay tribute.
Former boxer (and panto star) Frank Bruno, paid tribute, including a reference to the Chuckle Bros.’ famous catchphrase. He said: “Very sad news this morning. A very funny man, you’ve left happy memories for so many people ‘To me to you’ RIP.”
