Yesterday, news circulated that the Star Wars standalone movies were being put on hold, following the less-than-stellar response to Solo: A Star Wars Story. The news suggested the oft-rumoured Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and the Boba Fett film were no longer on the cards.

With that announcement, millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror at the thought of no Obi-Wan movie. BUT there is a new hope that all may not be as it seems.

ABC are now running a story which suggests that more Star Wars movies are in the works, including additional films to those that have been officially announced. Sadly there’s still no clarification as to what they all are, or if they include Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Clayton Sandell of ABC News is reporting the following:

“Lucasfilm told ABC News there are still “multiple” Star Wars films currently in development that have not been officially announced. Those projects are moving forward separate from an already-announced “Star Wars” trilogy being overseen by “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and another series of movies from “Game of Thrones” producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.”

So, what does this all mean?

Well, Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi might still happen, but of course, they might not.

I wouldn’t be surprised if these movies go ahead, but they get a rejig and a title change so that they are less about one specific character and more of an ensemble piece. Of course, at the moment all we can do is speculate.
