Because you demanded it – yes, YOU – an Alfred Pennyworth TV series is on the horizon.

What do you mean, you didn’t demand it?

Well, if you didn’t, who did?

Who indeed.

Either way, a ten-part TV series following the adventures of Batman’s butler, Alfred has been given the green light. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show has received a straight-to-series order from American cable and satellite channel, Epix.

The series will be overseen by Gotham’s Bruno Heller, but WILL NOT be connected to Gotham in anyway – so don’t expect to see Sean Pertwee reprising the role of Batman’s er… batman. Danny Cannon will direct the pilot and will take on the role of executive producer alongside Warner Horizon, for this Alfred origin story.

Epix President, Michael Wright, said:

“As genuine fans of these classic DC characters, as well as the incredibly talented Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, we couldn’t be more excited to make Epix the home of this series.” He added: “We can’t wait to work with Bruno and Danny — along with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon — on this fantastic origin story.”
