DC Comics is to publish more Hanna-Barbera/DC super hero mash-ups comics.
Following previous (and pretty good) mash-ups such as Adam Strange/Future Quest and Booster Gold/The Flintstones, the new titles will include: Aquaman/Jabberjaw, Black Lightning/Hong Kong Phooey, The Flash/Speed Buggy and Super Sons/Dynomutt. The comics will cost $4.99 each and will contain 48 pages.
DC Publisher, Dan DiDio, said: “Mixing DC and Hanna-Barbera characters together for these stories is always fun because the results tend to be wildly unpredictable.”
“Even before you know what the story’s about, just hearing the names that get thrown together instantly brings a smile to your face and puts your imagination into overdrive, trying to figure out what kind of story could possibly come from these team ups. Fortunately, we’ve got the perfect lineup of creators that can bring those stories to life.”
Here’s what to expect:
Aquaman/Jabberjaw Special #1 – The main story will be written by Dan Abnett, with artwork by Paul Pelletier and Andrew Hennessey. The comic will include a back-up story from Jeff Parker and Scott Kolins, featuring The Spectre, the wizard Shazam and Captain Caveman.
Black Lightning/Hong Kong Phooey Special #1 – Bryan Hill writes, with Denys Cowan and Bill Sienkiewicz on the artwork. The back-up story – by Jeff Parker and Scott Kolins – features a pre-demon Jason Blood and The Funky Phantom.
The Flash/Speed Buggy Special #1 – Scott Lobdell, Brett Booth and Norm Rapmun are on the creative team on this book, which includes Speed Buggy and Reverse Speed Buggy!
Super Sons/Dynomutt Special #1 – Peter J. Tomasi, Fernando Pasarin and Oclair Albert deliver this book, which mixes super kids with a super canine.
