Things continue to go south for the DCEU – as Joss Whedon has quit Batgirl.
The writer/director, who has been attached to Warner Bros’. Batgirl movie since early last year, has walked away from the project after admitting he simply “didn’t have a story.”
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon said:
“Batgirl is such an exciting project, and Warners/DC such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realise I really didn’t have a story.”
He added: “I’m grateful to (DC President) Geoff (Johns) and (Warner Bros. Picture Group President) Toby (Emmerich) and everyone who was so welcoming when I arrived, and so understanding when I…uh, is there a sexier word for ‘failed?’”
So, what now for Batgirl? And more importantly, what now for the ever-changing DCEU? Can it keep going with so many problems?
