Yes!!! Batman: Subzero is (finally) heading to Blu-ray.

The 1998 animated movie – an in-continuity spin-off from Batman: The Animated Series – is to get the HD treatment courtesy of Warner Archive Collection.

The news was announced yesterday, via social media in a post titled, ‘Valentine surprise’. Taking to the Warner Archive Collection’s Facebook page, the manufacture-on-demand service posted a short video, which showed a man, retrieving a Blu-ray copy of the film from his freezer.

The release of Batman: Subzero follows on from last year’s Blu-ray release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993), which was positively received by fans. While no release date has been set for Batman: Subzero, the movie should arrive either just before or just after this year’s Blu-ray release of Batman: The Animated Series.

And now the disclaimer: As Batman: Subzero is being released via Warner Archive Collection, this is a US-only release at present. However, as with Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, the Blu-ray should be Region Free and will be available to order via Amazon and/or eBay, meaning there’s nothing stopping UK fans from getting hold of a copy.

Warner Archive Collection is the official home of thousands of rare TV shows and movies. The archive regularly releases titles which would often get overlooked by a mainstream release.
