A TV series based on comic book character, Usagi Yojimbo is in the works.

The animated series will be produced by animation studio, Gaumont, in association with Dark Horse Entertainment, Atomic Monster Productions and Usagi Yojimbo creator, Stan Sakai.

In a press statement (via Geek) Gaumont President of Animation, Nicolas Atlan, said:

Usagi Yojimbo has been much sought after for many years, and we are honoured to work with Stan Sakai to translate his multi-generational stories into the first ever TV series.

Usagi Yojimbo’s blend of history and mythology, a clever balance between action and comedy, and real-world touch points combined with the supernatural, together with the passionate fan base that Stan has already amassed, makes this an incredibly exciting property to develop with our partners Atomic Monster and Dark Horse Entertainment.”

To date, Usagi Yojimbo has not starred in his own TV series, however he has put in guest appearances on all three Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons (1987-2017).

No air date has been offered up just yet for the new show, but as soon as details surface It’s A Stampede! will post ’em!
