In 1987, Christian Bale appeared in the role of Jum-Jum in the children’s fantasy movie, Mio in the Land of Faraway. The same year, the young actor took on the part of Jim in the Steven Spielberg-directed film, Empire of the Sun.
From here, Bale continued to appear in movies, building up an impressive body of work which included the Disney musical Newsies, the classic drama Little Women, and the horror-thriller American Psycho. The 2000s

Moving into the 2000s and Bale began the decade playing the role of Patrick Bateman in the horror-thriller, American Psycho. From here he appeared alongside Samuel L. Jackson in 2000’s Shaft, before starring in notable films such as Reign of Fire, Equilibrium, and The Machinist.
Then in 2005, Bale took on a role which would make him a household name. He played the part of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s gritty reboot, Batman Begins.
The movie was a hit with audiences and soon led to a sequel, The Dark Knight. This follow-up film proved even more successful than its predecessor, ensuring Bale’s star status rose even further.

The 2010s

Into the 2010s and Bale kicked off this decade with The Fighter and The Flowers of War. He then reprised the role of Batman for a third and final time in the 2012 comic book sequel, The Dark Knight Rises.
With the Dark Knight trilogy done and dusted, Bale moved onto films such as American Hustle, Exodus: Gods and Kings, and Le Mans ’66. He also provided the voice of Bagheera in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.
