Below is a list of every episode of Batman: The Animated Series featuring Bane. As you can see, while Bane was a fan-favourite character, he only appeared in a few episodes.

The reason for his limited appearances is because Bane was a relatively new character at the time. Bane wasn’t created until 1993, a year after the show had started airing.

In total, Bane appeared in Batman: The Animated Series just two times:

Bane

In Bane, Rupert Thorne hires muscle-clad mercenary, Bane to take down Batman. But Bane is not only an expert fighter, he also has a secret weapon.

Using a device which pumps a powerful chemical directly into his body, Bane is able to increase his strength. This makes him a deadly match for the Caped Crusader.

Over the Edge

Bane’s second appearance is in Over the Edge. In this episode, when Batgirl is killed by the Scarecrow, her secret identity is revealed to the Gotham City police, including her father, Commissioner Gordon.

With a little digging, Gordon discovers the identities of the entire Bat-family, and storms Wayne Manor in pursuit of Batman, who he blames for his daughter’s death. When he is unable to arrest the Caped Crusader, Gordon hires Bane to finish the job.

Mystery of the Batwoman

In addition to his two television appearances, Bane also featured in the Batman: The Animated Series spin-off movie: Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003). Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the film was released as a direct-to-DVD/VHS title which acted as a standalone tale, introducing a new character to the Batman mythology, namely the Batwoman.

The animated movie marked the first and only appearance of the Batwoman in the DC Animated Universe. The character did not appear in Batman: The Animated Series or any of the connected DCAU shows, and was never referenced again.

But what has this all got to do with Bane? Well, in the movie, a mysterious new heroine arrives in Gotham City and no one knows who she is, including the Batman. But as the Caped Crusader sets to work trying to solve her identity, he soon finds he has other problems on his hands, when Bane, the Penguin, and Rupert Thorne engage in illegal activity.
