This June, slapstick reality movie, Jackass: Best and Last makes its way onto cinema screens. The film – supposedly the final instalment in the popular comedy franchise – reunites stars Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Chris Pontius with director Jeff Tremaine, for more high risk pranks and pratfalls.
Teasing the new movie, Paramount Pictures said: “Johnny Knoxville and the gang return for one final fling at the big screen. Featuring all-new stunts and stupidity along with the greatest hits and biggest laughs from the past, jackass: best and last is a joyously raucous celebration of all the mischievous camaraderie that you’ve come to love and expect from these idiots over the past 25 years.
“So, grab your dumb little buddies, raise your glasses, and come experience the cinematic event that promises to be the last time you’ll ever laugh this hard in a theatre.”
With a write up like that, as well as the fact this is supposedly the final outing for the Jackass boys, it’s sure to grab a great deal of attention. The daft stunts are also likely to pique the interest of audiences of all ages, including teens.
But when Jackass: Best and Last hits movie theatres, will it be suitable for everyone? And more importantly, will it be suitable for teenagers?
Let’s take a look at the age rating.
—
Jackass: Best and Last UK rating

In the UK, Jackass: Best and Last has been certified ‘18’ by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). The film has received this rating for “dangerous behaviour, strong crude humour (and) nudity.”
In the UK, movies awarded an ‘18’ certificate are deemed suitable for adult audiences aged 18 or over. No one below the age of 18 will be permitted to watch an ‘18’ certificate movie in a UK cinema.
Cinemas will be aware of the young appeal of the movie and will be checking ID of anyone who appears to be under the age of 18. Those who can’t prove they are old enough will be denied entry.
So, when it comes to Jackass: Best and Last, the BBFC do not believe the movie is suitable for the majority of teenagers (i.e. anyone aged 17 or below). It’s adults only for this one.

Jackass: Best and Last US rating

In the US, Jackass: Best and Last has been rated ‘R’ by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPA). The film has received this rating due to extremely dangerous stunts and crude material throughout, graphic nudity, pervasive language and sexual material.
Films rated ‘R’ in the US mean they are restricted. Audiences below the age of 17 are not permitted to watch an ‘R’ rated movie unless they are accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
However, here is where things differ between the US and the UK. In the US, anyone of any age can watch an ‘R’ rated movie, so long as they stick to the stipulation noted above (i.e. attend with an adult/guardian).
This means, technically a 4-year-old could watch Jackass: Best and Last in a US cinema. Likewise, a teen of any age could watch the movie, as long as they go with a parent.
Does this mean that a 4-year-old or a young teen should watch Jackass: Best and Last in a US cinema? Well, the MPA leave that is something for you to decide.
The MPA set out the guidance, then expect you to use your own judgement based on the information provided. So, in this case you will want to consider the dangerous stunts, the graphic nudity, and sexual material etc to make your decision.
