In 1962, British actor Brian Blessed appeared in the war drama, The Valiant. From here he appeared in The Christmas Tree and Till Death Us Do Part, before taking on roles in The Trojan Women, and The Great Alfred.

As the decades moved on, Blessed played the part of Prince Vultan in legendary sci-fi film Flash Gordon, and voiced the character of Boss Nass in Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Blessed also played King Lear in a production of the same name, and popped up in Hamlet, Macbeth, and Disney’s Tarzan.

As noted above, Brian Blessed made his first film appearance in 1962’s The Valiant. This was followed by roles in The Christmas Tree, Till Death Us Do Part, The Story of Christ, Son of Man, and Barrister at Law.

Moving into the 1980s and Blessed kick-started the decade with arguably one of his most famous roles in the sci-fi film, Flash Gordon. The actor took on the part of Prince Vultan, leader of the Hawkmen.

From here movies included The Hound of the Baskervilles, Once in a Life Time, and Henry V. He also provided vocal duties to the English-language release of Asterix and the Big Fight.

Over to the 1990s and movies included Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Waiting for Godot, Much Ado About Nothing, and the television movie, MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis. Towards the end of the decade he voiced Boss Nass in Star Wars prequel, The Phantom Menace, and also lent his voice to the role of Clayton in Tarzan.
