The Mandalorian in order

In 2019, fantasy TV show, The Mandalorian made its debut on Disney+. Created by Jon Favreau, and taking place within the Star Wars universe, the live-action show followed the story of a bounty hunter who finds himself becoming the protector of a mysterious, Force-sensitive child.

Set shortly after the events of 1983’s Return of the Jedi, the series followed a Mandalorian bounty hunter named Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), as he takes on jobs while trying to keep the ‘child’ aka Grogu safe from harm. Along the way details are revealed about Grogu’s identity, and one or two familiar Star Wars characters popped by for guest appearances.

Upon making its debut, The Mandalorian was a huge success for Disney/Lucasfilm, propelling the show and its characters to new heights within the Star Wars franchise. As such, more seasons followed, as did a movie, as well as character tie-in appearances on a spin-off show.

But how does it all fit together and is there a correct viewing order to follow the journey of Din Djarin the Mandalorian and his companion, Grogu? Keep reading for all the details.

Understanding The Mandalorian

As noted above, Din Djarin and Grogu made their debuts in 2019 via the first season of The Mandalorian. This initial season ran for eight episodes on Disney+.

With the series becoming an instant hit, a second season was put into production, airing in 2020. This second helping also ran for eight episodes.

From here, Din Djarin and Grogu made their next appearance in spin-off series, The Book of Boba Fett, which aired for one season totalling seven episodes in 2021. The characters appeared in the final three episodes of the show, beginning with ‘Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian’.

In 2023, The Mandalorian returned for a third season, once again comprising eight episodes. This was then followed by a big screen movie in 2026, titled The Mandalorian and Grogu.
