In 1994, action-adventure movie, Street Fighter, arrived in cinemas. The live-action film, based on the popular Street Fighter video games, told the story of a group of martial arts heroes, led by Colonel Guile, as they battle the evil M. Bison.

Street Fighter (1994)

As noted above, the first entry in the Street Fighter movie series made its debut in 1994. Simply titled Street Fighter, the film focused on a colonel who leads a team of fighters to free hostages during a period of civil war. (102 mins)

Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1994)

Released the same year as the live-action Street Fighter movie, this second film from 1994 was a feature-length anime titled Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. In this film a crime boss searching for the world’s best fighters pursues a Japanese drifter and his American friend. (102 mins)

Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie (2000)

Six years would pass before the next Street Fighter movie would make its debut, and when it did it was yet another anime movie. Titled Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie, Street Fighter icons Ken and Ryu are united following the mysterious death of their master. (94 mins)

Street Fighter Alpha: Generations (2005)

Another animated movie for film No. 4. And in Street Fighter Alpha: Generations, Ryu sets out to improve his fighting skills. (45 mins)

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)

Back to live action for the fifth film, and this one focuses on popular Street Fighter character, Chun-Li. In this movie, Chun-Li heads off on a quest for justice, with the aim of bringing down a criminal organisation. (96 mins)

Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind (2009)

Over to animation once again for this next film, Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind. In this entry, Cammy, Chun-Li, Guile and various popular characters from the series find themselves with a new challenge to face. (65 mins)

Super Street Fighter IV Original Video Animation (2010)

Sticking with animation for this seventh ‘short’ movie, which is the Original Video Animation (OVA) Super Street Fighter IV. The film is based on the video game of the same name. (35 mins)

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist (2014)

Back to live-action for this next movie, which is 2014’s Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, which initially wasn’t even a movie at all. Originally, Assassin’s Fist was released as a web-series, before the episodes were re-edited and re-released as a movie. As for the story, this one focuses on the early years of Street Fighter legends Ryu and Ken. (143 mins)

Street Fighter (2026)

Twelve years after the release of Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, the film series received a reboot in 2026 with another live-action feature film, simply titled Street Fighter. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film reintroduced the core characters for a new generation.
