Leonardo DiCaprio movies in order

In 1991, Leonardo DiCaprio made his film debut in the sci-fi horror-comedy, Critters 3. From here he followed up his film acting work with appearances in movies such as Poison Ivy, This Boy’s Life, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. 

To begin with, his on-screen appearances were small roles, but soon his star status began to grow. This in turn increased his presence on the big screen, and propelled his career forward.

Over the years, Leonardo DiCaprio starred in films such as Romeo + Juliet, Marvin’s Room, and The Beach. He also worked with some high-profile directors, including Steven Spielberg for Catch Me If You Can, Martin Scorsese for The Departed, and James Cameron for Titanic.

The 1990s

As noted above, Leonardo DiCaprio began his movie career in 1991 with a role in the sci-fi horror sequel, Critters 3. More parts soon followed (in less-remembered movies), before he featured in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, playing the role of Arnie.

DiCaprio really impressed in this role, and soon more high-profile pictures followed, including The Basketball Diaries, The Quick and the Dead, and Romeo + Juliet for director Baz Luhrmann. However, the movie which elevated DiCaprio to super-star status was James Cameron’s global smash-hit, Titanic.

The film was a phenomenon, which made DiCaprio a household name. From here, he was an acting megastar.

Sliding into the 2000s and DiCaprio kick-started the decade with Danny Boyle’s The Beach, before starring in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York. From here he starred in Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator, and The Departed.

From here big movies included Django Unchained, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Revenant, for which DiCaprio won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
