As noted above, Leonardo DiCaprio began his movie career in 1991 with a role in the sci-fi horror sequel, Critters 3. More parts soon followed (in less-remembered movies), before he featured in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, playing the role of Arnie.

DiCaprio really impressed in this role, and soon more high-profile pictures followed, including The Basketball Diaries, The Quick and the Dead, and Romeo + Juliet for director Baz Luhrmann. However, the movie which elevated DiCaprio to super-star status was James Cameron’s global smash-hit, Titanic.

The film was a phenomenon, which made DiCaprio a household name. From here, he was an acting megastar.

From here big movies included Django Unchained, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Revenant, for which DiCaprio won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
