The Fly (1958)

The first entry in this body-horror movie series debuted in 1958 under the title, The Fly. The movie focused on scientist, André Delambre, who is conducting experiments on matter transportation.

In the movie, André attempts to transport himself using his experimental equipment, but a fly is caught up in the teleportation device and their atoms are spliced together. Parts of his body become part of a fly and vice versa. (94 mins)

Return of the Fly (1959)

Set after the events of The Fly, the story continues in Return of the Fly, which picks things up with André’s son, Phillipe. In the movie, Phillipe attempts to recreate his father’s work, leading to external interference, and another human/fly transformation. (80 mins)

Curse of the Fly (1965)

Loosely continuing the story in Curse of the Fly, father and son duo, Henri and Martin Delambre carry on experimenting in transportation. More macabre madness ensues. (86 mins)

The Fly (1986)

For this next offering it’s back to the beginning for a remake of the 1958 movie. Only this time it’s darker, deadlier, and far more dangerous, boasting the tagline: “Be afraid. Be very afraid.”

In this version of The Fly, eccentric scientist, Seth Brundle experiments in teleportation. After successfully transporting a live animal he uses himself as a test subject, unaware a fly has followed him into his teleportation pods.

Over the coming days, Brundle begins to exhibit new abilities. However, he soon starts to transform, becoming more fly than man. (96 mins)

The Fly II (1989)

Picking up the story in The Fly II, Seth’s son, Martin has been taken to research facility to be studied. Ageing at a rapid rate, Martin becomes an adult in just a matter of years.

Over time, Martin begins to develop signs that he too is transforming into a human-fly hybrid. But will he suffer a similar fate as his father? (105 mins)
