In 1994, Interview with the Vampire crept into cinemas. The gothic horror movie, from director Neil Jordan, starred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt and followed the story of a vampire who tells his life story to an inquisitive reporter.
Released to positive reviews, and a strong response from audiences, Interview with the Vampire was both a critical and commercial success. The movie took a big bite out of the box office, and picked up a number of award nominations – including a couple of Oscar nominations.

The Lestat movies
Interview with the Vampire (1994)
As noted above, the first Lestat movie debuted in 1994 under the title, Interview with the Vampire. The film focused on the story of two vampires, Lestat de Lioncourt and Louis de Pointe du Lac, chronicling their time together; their encounter with Armand the leader of a Parisian brood of vampires; and the turbulent times they experience from 1791 onward. Queen of the Damned (2002)
The second Lestat movie followed eight years later, this time via the standalone film, Queen of the Damned. In this movie, Lestat becomes a rockstar, whose music wakes up the queen of the vampires. (101 mins)

The Lestat movies in order
To date there are two films in the Lestat movie series. The movies appear in the following order:
- Interview with the Vampire (1994)
- Queen of the Damned (2002)
While both of the Lestat movies are based on the work of author Anne Rice – specifically her Vampire Chronicles novels – the two movies are only loosely connected. Interview with the Vampire was released first, with Queen of the Damned being released eight years later as a stand-alone sequel.
Both films feature the characters Lestat and Armand, but across the two films different actors take on the roles.
