In 1991, Sarah, Plain and Tall aired on the Hallmark Channel. The movie was based on the children’s book of the same name by Patricia MacLachlan.

Sarah, Plain and Tall told the story of a ‘mail-order bride’ who answers a newspaper advert from a farmer, looking for a potential wife. The movie starred Glenn Close as the self-titled ‘Sarah, Plain and Tall’, with Christopher Walken as farmer, Jacob Witting.
