In 1974, John Travolta made his film debut via an uncredited role in the television movie, Nightmare. From here he followed up his acting work with appearances in films such as The Devil’s RainThe Tenth Level, and Carrie.

To begin with, his on-screen roles were small parts, but thanks to scene-stealing roles in movies such as Saturday Night Fever and Grease, Travolta quickly became a star. This in turn increased his presence on the big screen, and propelled his career toward the icon he would eventually become.

But how familiar are you with John Travolta’s back catalogue of movies? If you were asked to name them all what would you say?

Well, don’t worry, because I can help. In this post you will find a list of all John Travolta’s movies, presented in chronological order, starting with minor roles and bit parts in his early pictures, and running through to more substantial roles in later life.

As noted above, Travolta began his film career in 1974, via an uncredited role in Nightmare. From here he began to develop his skills and over time his roles increased, as did the parts, and he began to feature in films such as Carrie and The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.

However, it was 1977’s Saturday Night Fever where Travolta played the role of young Italian-American, Tony Manero, that really put him on the map. The film was a huge success and a pop culture phenomenon which turned Travolta into a household name.

Travolta’s star status was then further cemented in 1978 when he took on the part of Danny Zuko in the musical, Grease. The film was yet another big hit, which also produced a top-selling soundtrack (second only to the best-selling soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever).
