In 2010, the sci-fi disaster thriller, Skyline beamed its way into cinemas. The movie, set in Los Angeles, focused on a sudden alien invasion which devastates the world, but places a specific focus on the impact it has on a group of friends staying in a condominium.
Upon release, Skyline was not a huge critical hit, but it was a box-office success. As such, a series of sequels soon followed, which helped to deepen the Skyline mythology.

The Skyline movies in order

Skyline (2010)
The first entry in the Skyline movie series arrived in cinemas in 2010. In this film, husband and wife Jarrod and Elaine take a trip to Southern California to visit a friend when an alien invasion occurs.
While the city is under an extra-terrestrial attack, Jarrod and Elaine work together with their friends in an attempt to survive the global onslaught.
Beyond Skyline (2014)
Although Skyline was not a critical hit, it was a commercial success. Produced on a budget of $20 million, Skyline went on to make over $68 million which pretty much guaranteed a follow-up.
The follow-up arrived four years later under the title Beyond Skyline. This second instalment was set concurrently with the first, and introduced new characters who got caught up in the alien attack.
In this film, Detective Mark Corley infiltrates an alien ship after his son is abducted. While aboard the ship he discovers the extra-terrestrials are harvesting humans for their brainpower

Skylines (2020)
The third instalment in the Skyline movie series debuted in 2020 with the title Skylines (aka Skylin3s). In this film, a virus turns alien-human hybrids against their fellow allied forces.
Keen to find a cure, Captain Rose Corley ventures to the alien home world. But can she outsmart the enemy?
Skyline: Warpath (2025)
Picking up the story five years after the events of Beyond Skyline, this fourth film, Skyline: Warpath centres its story around corruption and the alien invaders.

I include IMDb’s ratings as I think they provide a more rounded view, rather than just my opinion. As for mine? Well… let’s say I wouldn’t be complimentary of Skyline… But Beyond Skyline is better. Skylin3s is set to be released later this year, which is why neither I nor IMDb van provide a rating yet.
