The Morning Show Mysteries books in order

In 2009, broadcaster and journalist Al Roker teamed up with Dick Lochte to publish the murder-mystery novel, The Morning Show Murders. The novel told the story of celebrity chef and restaurant owner, Billy Blessing, who finds himself becoming the key suspect in a murder case.

In the story, Billy owns the successful Manhattan restaurant, Blessing’s Bistro, and is a regular contributor to the morning television show, Wake Up, America! At this point in time, all is well with Billy and everything’s fine – that is until he clashes with the show’s executive producer, Rudy Gallagher, and things get heated.

A short while later, Rudy is found dead in his luxury apartment. As Billy and Rudy had recently had a disagreement, Billy becomes the chief suspect in his murder.

Upon release, The Morning Show Murders was a hit with readers, so Roker and Lochte soon followed the novel up with another instalment. This second book was titled The Midnight Show Murders and continued Billy’s story, this time transporting the action to Los Angeles with the central mystery revolving around a late night talk show.

Shortly after this second book was published, the collection expanded and developed once more, with the arrival of another instalment. This book proved popular, and in turn the novels as a whole inspired a long-running series of Hallmark movies known as the Morning Show Mysteries.

What is the order of the Morning Show Mysteries / Billy Blessing books?

As noted above, the first entry in the Billy Blessing book series was 2009’s The Morning Show Murders, written by Al Roker and Dick Lochte. This was then followed by The Midnight Show Murders in 2011.

The following year, in 2012, The Talk Show Murders made its debut, once again from Roker and Lochte. At this point the series went on hiatus.

In 2024, a fourth novel is to published by Al Roker, with Matt Costello on board as contributor. This book is titled Murder on Demand.

To date, there are four books in the Morning Show Mysteries/Billy Blessing series, with the books published in the following order:

• The Morning Show Murders (2009)
• The Midnight Show Murders (2011)
• The Talk Show Murders (2012)
• Murder on Demand (2024)
