In 1984, Mattel’s plastic plaything and fashion icon, Barbie, was transported off the toy shelves and into the world of video games via a Commodore 64 game. The game – simply titled Barbie – was published by Epyx and allowed players to take control of the titular character, in order to virtually participate in her life.
Although the game was fairly simple in its approach, and some of the gameplay revolved around keeping Ken happy, the title proved popular. As such, Barbie soon returned to the realm of video games for further adventures.
