1980s

As noted above, Ben Affleck’s movie career started at a very young age in 1981, when he took a small role in the film, The Dark End of the Street. He followed this up with a part in the television movie Hands of a Stranger in 1987, before popping up as an uncredited extra in the Kevin Costner movie, Field of Dreams in 1989.

Onto the 1990s now, and this is the decade in which Affleck started to gain some attention. He began the ’90s in the TV movie Daddy, before going on to appear in pictures such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dazed and Confused, Mall Rats, and Chasing Amy.

However it was the movie Good Will Hunting which really made all the difference. Not only did the actor appear in the movie, he also co-wrote it, and this elevated his star status once Good Will Hunting became such a hit with critics.

Moving into the 2000s, and with Affleck having found considerable success in the ’90s (specifically the late ’90s), he continued to push ahead with his screen career. Onto the 2010s and Affleck’s movie output showed no signs of slowing down. He began the decade with films such as The Company Men and Argo, before taking on parts in Runner Runner and Gone Girl.

And then in 2016, Affleck won the hearts of comic book fans, when he played the role of Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He then continued this role in further comic book movies, including a small part in Suicide Squad.
