Netflix has released details about forthcoming Brazilian romantic comedy, Rich in Love 2 (aka Ricos de Amor 2). The film – which stars Giovanna Lancellotti and Danilo Mesquita – is a follow-up to 2020’s hugely successful Rich in Love.
According to Netflix, Rich in Love 2 will see lead characters Paula (Giovanna Lancellotti) and Teto (Danilo Mesquita) face “difficulties” as they “have to learn to deal with turbulence” in their lives.
In the movie, “Paula goes after her dreams and resumes her work as a volunteer doctor, going into another mission with an indigenous community in the Amazon. Teto, conversely, tries to convince his partners to establish his tomato cooperative in a village in the region, but in order to save the company from bankruptcy and win Paula’s heart back, he must definitely overcome his spoiled habits and deal with the interests of a powerful farmer.”
Rich in Love 2 is directed by Bruno Garotti, with a story by Maíra Oliveira and Jama Wapichana. Garotti and Sylvio Gonçalves wrote the screenplay.
The cast of the new film includes Fernanda Paes Leme, Jaffar Bambirra, Lellê, Adanilo, Kay Sara, Aline Dias, Roney Villela, and Ernani Moraes. The movie is produced by Ananã Filmes, with executive production by Julio Uchôa and Irina Neves, photography by Dante Belluti and art direction by Claudia Andrade.
Although it has taken three years to continue the Rich in Love story with a sequel the film’s announcement will not come as a surprise to fans. The original movie was a big hit when it first arrived in 2020, becoming the most watched production on Netflix in Brazil, so a follow-up was inevitable.
The streaming service will be hoping Rich in Love will be just as popular as the original movie when it hits screens – and they won’t have too long to wait to find out how well it does. Rich in Love 2 (Ricos de Amor 2) will begin streaming on Netflix from Friday June 2nd 2023.
