In 1985, anime horror movie, Vampire Hunter D made its debut. The film, based on a light novel by Hideyuki Kikuchi, was set in the year 12,090 AD and followed the story of a young woman who hires a half-human, half-vampire, vampire hunter to protect her from the forces of darkness.
