In 2000, US sitcom, Family Guy, aired ‘Road to Rhode Island’. This was a memorable episode of the show, in which lead characters Stewie Griffin and Brian, embark on a road trip from Palm Springs to Quahog.

The episode was inspired by a collection of comedy films called the ‘Road to…’ movies. These movies – which made their debut in 1940 with the Road to Singapore – starred Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour.

Due to the popularity of Family Guy’s Road to Rhode Island episode, the show returned to the subject of road trips in later seasons. These episodes, which carry the title ‘Road to…’, have popped up quite frequently throughout the show’s run and have become fan-favourite instalments.
