In 1962, American children’s author, Bernard Waber, introduced young readers (and the rest of the world) to Lyle – a city-dwelling crocodile, who lives with a human family known as the Primms. Lyle made his debut in the pages of the book, The House on East 88th Street, and thanks to his loveable nature and winning smile, he instantly caught the imagination of readers.
Due to the success of that first book, Waber continued to write and publish stories featuring Lyle. Each story expanded on Lyle’s world, and made the crocodile a beloved character for children.
In fact, the character became so popular that Lyle eventually leapt from the pages of the books to become the star of a 1987 animated special, as well as a 2022 live-action movie. But if you want to catch up on all of Lyle’s original literary adventures, what are the books you should seek out?
Below is a list of all the books in the Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile book collection. So, if you have some young readers in your household, and they really want to catch up on the Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile stories, these are the books to look out for!
