How many Sonic cartoon shows are there?

In 1993, Sonic the Hedgehog, raced his way onto television screens. The iconic gaming character, who made his debut on the Sega Genesis / Sega Mega Drive, was given his own animated television show in order to broaden his appeal beyond the games.  

The show was titled Adventures of Sonic and followed Sonic’s ongoing battles with the evil Doctor Robotnik. The series ran for 65 episodes and focused on a light-hearted take on the character, complete with goofs and gags.

Although Adventures of Sonic was not a critical hit, the show proved that Sonic could work in animated form, and was soon followed by further Sonic cartoons. But how many Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon shows are there?

The Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons in order

To date, there are six Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon shows. The television shows are as follows:

• Sonic Boom (2014 – 2017)

Of all the Sonic cartoons, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Boom are considered to be the most popular shows amongst fans. Sonic the Hedgehog ran for a total of 26 episodes when it first aired, while Sonic Boom clocked up a whopping 104 episodes during its original run.
