Hannah Swensen Mysteries star Alison Sweeney is set to headline a new romantic holiday movie coming to Hallmark. Sweeney will lead the new feature film, Open By Christmas, which will co-star former Smallville actor Erica Durance, as well as Crossword Mysteries actor Brennan Elliott.
According to Hallmark, Open By Christmas tells the story of a woman called Nicky (as played by Sweeney) who “discovers a card given to her in high school that she never knew existed. In it, a secret admirer confides their true emotions. With the support of her lifelong best friend Simone (Durance), Nicky embarks on a quest to find and thank the anonymous author.
“Meanwhile, Simone is a working, single mother who feels like she’s losing touch with her teenage son, especially as she plans to marry again and start a new chapter in life. Simone turns to Nicky, who helps her understand she’s holding on too tight in fear of her son growing up and everything changing.
“Nicky and Simone help each other find answers to the past and present, all kindled through the special bond that has long made them feel like sisters.”
Open By Christmas is directed by David Weaver, from a script by Amyn Kaderail and Christine Conradt. Jamie Goehring, Shawn Williamson, Alison Sweeney and Craig Baumgarten are executive producers on the film, while Kevin Leslie is on board as a producer
Those keen to check out Open By Christmas will be pleased to know the movie will make its debut in the US on November 12th. Open By Christmas will air on the Hallmark Channel at 8pm ET/PT as part of Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas collection of movies.
