This weekend saw the debut of Hallmark’s new signature mystery movie, Redemption in Cherry Springs. The movie – which aired on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Sunday September 13th – starred Rochelle Aytes and Keith D. Robinson, alongside a cast that included Frankie Faison and Scott Bryce.
Directed by Letia Clouston, Redemption in Cherry Springs was written by John Bellina and Talia Gonzalez. The movie was shot in Hudson Valley, New York, and told the story of Melanie Abrams, who teams up with Jake Collins, a local police detective in her old home town of Cherry Springs, to get to the bottom of a troubling mystery.

As is the norm with many new Hallmark movies and shows, when Redemption in Cherry Springs hit screens over the weekend, it was accompanied by a ‘Tweet-along’ from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Twitter account. Tweet-alongs give viewers the opportunity to Tweet their thoughts about the movie (using the hashtag #RedemptionInCherrySprings), so they can comment on clues and plot points as the story unfolds.
At various points during the broadcast of Redemption in Cherry Springs, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Twitter account posed questions to followers about certain plot developments and re-tweeted their responses. Fans were even asked to make “final predictions” on the central mystery, as the movie neared its conclusion.

Once the movie finished airing, Hallmark then posed one of the biggest questions of all, asking followers the all-important question: “Did you enjoy #RedemptionInCherrySprings, sluthers?” The answer was a resounding ‘yes’, making it clear the new movie was a hit!
The general response from Twitter followers was very positive, with almost every Tweet asking for more instalments of Redemption in Cherry Springs. One Twitter user asked for a follow up, saying “You can’t leave us hanging like this. Start on that sequel now!”

Other followers called it “great” or “entertaining”. Referring to the two lead characters of the movie, one user commented “these 2 are great together,” while another said “we need MORE of Melanie & Jake!”
So far, Hallmark hasn’t announced a sequel to Redemption in Cherry Springs, but this initial response seems very encouraging. The channel will no doubt be weighing up the online chatter surrounding the movie’s debut, as well as the all-important viewing figures, to decide if Melanie and Jake will return to Cherry Springs for another mystery.
