You have watched the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies, you have taken a good crack at solving the mysteries for yourself, and you have fallen in love with all the characters. You have also fallen in love with the setting of the movies – and it’s not surprising, as the locations look great.
But now you are left with a burning question. A question that you have pondered for some time and you want to know the answer. The question is: Are the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies actually filmed in Martha’s Vineyard?
The answer is no. The Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies are not filmed in Martha’s Vineyard. In fact, Hallmark’s Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies are not even filmed in the United States!
The Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies – which star Jessie Metcalf and Sarah Lind – are filmed in British Columbia, Canada. To date, Canada has provided the location for all the movies running back to the first film, A Beautiful Place to Die, which made its debut in March 2020.

For those unfamiliar with the ‘setting’ of the movies, Martha’s Vineyard is an island, located south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. The island is known for being a popular resort in the US, where people will often spend the summer.
To recreate this popular US hot spot in Canada, the production team of the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies regularly look to different locations around the Victoria/Greater Victoria area. One such location is Beacon Wharf in Downtown Sidney, which according to Victoria News, played host to the cast and crew of the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movies back in October 2019.
Other filming locations across the movie series have included Oak Bay, Canoe Cove, Fisgard Lighthouse, Pendray Inn and Tea House, Willows Galley, and Bastion Square, amongst others.

Since making its debut, the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery movie series has proved very popular with audiences. The movies air on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries and are based on the Martha’s Vineyard Mystery books by Philip R. Craig.
If you’re a fan of Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries, then you may wish to know that a number of Hallmark’s mystery movies are currently available on DVD.
The Aurora Teagarden: 6-Movie Collection contains six films, including: A Bone to Pick, Real Murders, Three Bedrooms One Corpse, The Julius House, Dead Over Heels and A Bundle of Trouble.
The Aurora Teagarden: 6-Movie DVD collection is available from all good entertainment stockists, including Amazon US.

This is a great post/clarification as most of the Hallmark movies are filming in Canada, generally on the West Coast. The tree line there/coast line is markedly different than New England including Martha’s Vineyard. Vancouver area is lovely I’ve visited briefly and have family in Seattle Washington and we actually did a bus ride between the two/2 cities over that border–so I saw a lot of the landscape. Anytime I see a Hallmark movie mystery or a holiday film that is “set” in New England whether it is the Vineyard, Boston or Maine — I always sort of grin of how it is actually being shot in Canada–from the trees and rock crops alone.
