Good news, futuristic animated series, Legion of Super Heroes has FINALLY been released on Blu-ray!

The short-lived, and often overlooked animated series, which ran for two seasons between 2006 and 2008, has received the Blu-ray treatment. If you are a fan of the series, or you simply adore DC animated shows, you can now add this cult DC ‘toon to your shelves.

Warner Bros. announced the release of the highly-anticipated Legion of Super Heroes Blu-ray in a press statement.

The statement reads as follows:

“One thousand years from now, the legendary Man of Steel inspires a group of emerging young heroes from the 31st Century to band together and defend the newly formed United Planets – if they don’t kill each other first.

“In Season One, Legionnaires Bouncing Boy (Michael Cornacchia), Brianiac 5 (Adam Wylie), Saturn Girl (Kari Wahlgren) and Lightning Lad (Andy Milder) travel back in time to convince an awkward teen named Clark Kent (Yuri Lowenthal) to join their Legion of Super Heroes and battle their arch-nemeses, the Fatal Five. Inspired by his new friends, the insecure teen begins his journey to become the galaxy’s greatest hero.

“Catching up two years later, Season Two presents Superman and the Legion with an even greater challenge: Kell-El, the Superman of the 41st Century!”

The statement continues:

“Airing during a time of transition in animated entertainment, this groundbreaking super hero ensemble show has escaped the broader notice and acclaim it so richly deserves – and is sure to do just that, served up in this sparkling, sharp and future-proofed high definition complete series collection.”

All sounds great, right?

Yes… but there is a slight bit of bad news.

At present, Warner Bros. has only released Legion of Super Heroes on Blu-ray in the US. And there is no word on whether or not the show will be released in other countries.

But fear not, the Blu-ray can be purchased from Amazon US and Amazon UK. Hurrah!

The Legion of Super Heroes Blu-ray runs a total of 579 minutes, with all of the content spread across three discs.

Now be aware, according to Amazon this release is encoded, so if you are buying this Blu-ray outside of the US, be warned, there is a chance it may not play on your player.

You will need to own either a multi-region player to play the Blu-ray or be confident that your current player can handle discs from overseas.
