Will the obsession with the 1980s ever end? Not if Direct Line have anything to say about it.
The insurance company has just launched a series of television commercials in the UK, with ’80s icons as the unique selling point. These one-minute adverts feature RoboCop, Bumblebee and Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Not only are these ads a pure shot of nostalgia for people of a certain age *cough* they are pretty cool too. In the case of RoboCop, there is also plenty of humour.
My favourite? Probably the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ad. This advert features a turtle that is aesthetically far more appealing than anything that has been conjured up for the big screen in recent years and that makes it a winner for me.
