Walt Disney Studio’s live-action remake of Aladdin has passed the $900 million mark at the worldwide box office.
The movie has now taken $916,679,616 in the space of six weeks. That’s pretty impressive stuff and once again proves there’s a heck of a lot of money to be mined from remaking Walt Disney Animated Classics.
It’s possible Aladdin could crack the $1 billion mark in the not-too-distant future, but the movie will soon face stiff competition from The Lion King – yet another live-action Disney movie. If Aladdin cracks $1 billion, I’ll let you know.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, Aladdin stars Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari and Will Smith. The film continues Disney’s run of success at the box office this year, which includes the likes of Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Toy Story 4 (I’ll not mention X-Men: Dark Phoenix or Dumbo).
