Sony Pictures’ new Spidey flick, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has had a strong debut, taking more than $56 million during its opening week.
According to Box Office Mojo the film has so far taken $56,400,000 at the worldwide box office. This equates to $35,400,000 domestically and a further $21,000,000 internationally.
In addition to a sizeable chunk of change, the movie has achieved the largest opening ever for an animated film in December.
Thanks to positive reviews (including the thumbs up from me) and good word of mouth, Into the Spider-Verse should clean up this Christmas. While there is a lot of competition during the holidays (Aquaman, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Mary Poppins etc), Into the Spider-Verse will undoubtedly continue to attract audiences as we slip into the Christmas & post-Christmas week.
