A TV series based on popular gaming series The Legend of Zelda is reportedly in the pipeline.
According to The Wrap, Adi Shankar is in talks to produce the show, although no further details have been offered up at this time. Shankar is currently a producer on Netflix’s hit series, Castlevania, which is also based on a game.
Taking to social media to tease a forthcoming project (which everyone now presumes is Zelda-related), Shankar said:
“I can confirm that I’m working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series.”
“On Nov 16 @ 1pm I’m going to announce what it is.
“I love you all. Thank you for following me on this journey. Entertaining you guys continues to be a privilege.”
Guess we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks for an official confirmation, but it seems likely that this project is The Legend of Zelda, right?
Should the series go ahead this will be the second series based on The Legend of Zelda following a short-lived ’80s cartoon. The ‘toon ran for one season in 1989, comprising 13 episodes.
Shankar’s most recent project is the second season of Castlevania, which arrived on Netflix on Friday 26th October. It has been confirmed that a third season of Castlevania is currently in development.
