Actor Dwayne Johnson has thanked his Chinese fans for making Rampage a success.

To date, the movie – which was released back in April – has clocked up approximately $423 million at the worldwide box office. More than a third of that total has come from China alone – more than $156 million!

In the US, Rampage has not been that successful, so the response from Chinese audiences has really helped to boost the movie’s profits. More importantly, for Warner Bros., Rampage is now the studio’s second highest grossing movie in China.

Taking to Instagram to say thank you to his Chinese fans, Dwayne Johnson, said:

“Wow THANK YOU CHINA and I’m truly blown away and humbled by this monumental news.

“RAMPAGE becomes my highest grossing film of all time in the Middle Kingdom. RAMPAGE becomes the 2nd highest grossing Warner Bros film of all time. This stat is mind boggling considering we’ve now surpassed HARRY POTTER and BATMAN just to name a few.”

He added:

“RAMPAGE has officially hit the rare $1 BILLION RMB mark and has become a TOP 20 all time grossing international film. I’m extremely grateful to the people and culture of CHINA for embracing me and my films the way they have over the years.

“THANK YOU for your love and support – and as always, I look forward to coming back!”
