The director for the next big screen Star Trek movie may have been found.

According to Variety, Orange is the New Black director, S.J. Clarkson is currently in talks with Paramount Pictures about taking up the director’s chair for Star Trek 4 (aka Star Trek 14). If Clarkson steps on board the project she will make Trek history by becoming the first female director to helm a big screen Star Trek movie.

As you’ll note, Clarkson isn’t Quentin Tarantino – the high-profile director who was recently linked to a new Trek movie. So why’s he not involved?

Current rumblings suggest Tarantino is still eyeing up a Trek movie, just not Star Trek 4. It is believed the Tarantino Star Trek project – if it goes ahead – would follow at a later date.
