Next month, Action Comics clocks up its 1,000th issue – a hugely significant achievement for the long-running comic book. Keen to celebrate the occasion, as well as mark Superman’s 80th birthday, DC All Access and the DC Entertainment YouTube channel has uploaded a special video, recorded at the recent SXSW event.
The video – which you can watch below – talks about Superman’s legacy and features input from a collection of comic book experts, including Jim Lee, Frank Miller, Dan Jurgens, Brian Michael Bendis, Cameron Welsh, Lina Patel and Nadria Tucker. The panel is moderated by Laura Prudom.
The blurb to accompany the video, reads:
“The majority of people on Earth have lived their entire life with Superman, who made his comic book debut in 1938 in the pages of Action Comics #1. Now, as the 1,000th issue of that iconic series approaches, DC is proud to celebrate the superhero that started it all.”
