In 2014, the French television movie, Crime en Aveyron (aka Crime in Aveyron) made its debut. Directed by Claude-Michel Rome, the film followed the story of Élisabeth Richard and Paul Jansac as they conduct a police investigation into the death of a man murdered in Laguiole.
Upon making its debut, Crime en Aveyron was followed by Crime in Lozère, which debuted the same year. In this film, Richard and Jansac investigate the murder of a farmer/tourist guide who is stabbed in the heart.
Both of these murder-mystery television movies proved popular and more soon followed, all set around different regions of France. The next in Aigues-Mortes, the one after that in Martigues.
From 2014 to 2022, ten movies were produced in total. All were well received, and found popularity outside of France.
