In 2002, following a successful run on television, hit TV show, Jackass went to the big screen via the feature-length film, Jackass: The Movie. The film followed a similar format to the Jackass television show, i.e. the narrative revolved around a series of daft pranks and stunts, with cast members such as Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Chris Pontius getting involved in all kinds of dangerous situations.
Upon release, Jackass: The Movie was a box-office hit, kick-starting a series of sequels and spin-offs. But how many Jackass movies are there?
Well, it’s probably more than you think. Keep reading for all the details.

The Jackass movies

Jackass: The Movie (2002)
The first entry in the Jackass movie series is 2002’s Jackass: The Movie. The film took a similar approach as the TV series, with lewd and crude stunts, only on a grander scale and a bigger budget.
Jackass: The Movie was initially conceived as a way to conclude Jackass, following the end of the Jackass TV series and the original plan was for this to be the end of the road. However, when the film proved to be a hit with audiences, it was clear this wasn’t quite the end.
Jackass Number Two (2006)
A second Jackass movie followed in 2006, under the not-so imaginative title, Jackass Number Two. As with its predecessor, crude stunts and pranks were the order of the day and audiences lapped it up once again.
Jackass Presents: Mat Hoffman’s Tribute to Evel Knievel (2008)
The next entry in the series – technically the third – was conceived as a direct-to-DVD spin-off under the ‘Jackass Presents‘ banner. Jackass Presents: Mat Hoffman’s Tribute to Evel Knievel did pretty much what it said in the title and was a tribute film to legendary stunt performer, Evel Knievel, who passed away in 2007 (a year before the film’s release).
Jackass 3D (2010)
With the Jackass brand still proving very popular, the big screen series continued with Jackass 3D. Once again, this was another big hit with audiences.
Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa (2013)
For the next film it was back to the ‘Jackass Presents‘ branding for the 2013 spin-off movie, Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Stunts and pranks remained the focus, but they were loosely connected via the ‘Bad Grandpa’ character, Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville in prosthetics and makeup) who appeared throughout the film.
Jackass Forever (2022)
It was back to the main series for this next film, 2022’s Jackass Forever. The majority of the original cast returned, and it proved to be another hit with audiences, as well as critics.
Jackass 5 (2026)
Following the success of Jackass Forever, another entry in the main series was announced. This movie was conceived as an overall celebration of the franchise.
