Let’s Rank… Mr. Freeze movie quotes

In 1997, Arnold Schwarzenegger took to the big screen to play the role of tragic Batman villain, Mr. Freeze in director Joel Schumacher’s comic book romp, Batman & Robin. Starring alongside George Clooney, Chris O’Donnell, Uma Thurman, and Alicia Silverstone, Schwarzenegger donned blue make-up, a skullcap, and a bulky silver cryo-suit to embody the cigar munchin’ ice cold foe.

But along with the layers of blue paint, the bald head covering, the armoured attire, and the stogey, Schwarzenegger also delivered plenty of cold-related lines as Freeze. The actor was known for playing characters that would spout killer one-liners in his films, and for Batman & Robin this was certainly ramped up to the Nth degree.

In fact, a significant amount of the actor’s dialogue in Batman & Robin featured ice-related references. So much so, his dialogue was awash with chilling words and puns, becoming somewhat iconic in the process.

But how iconic? Well, iconic enough to rank ten of his best lines!

Ice Cold Delivery

From Mr. Freeze’s opening statement, “The Ice Man cometh” to his final line “prepare for a bitter harvest. Winter has come at last”, Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered plenty of chilling dialogue. Who could forget such classics as “stay cool, bird boy” and “their bones will turn to ICE! Their blood will freeze in my hands”?

And then there was the immortal line “can you feel it coming? The icy cold of space. Ah, at 30,000 feet your heart will freeze – and beat no more.” What an impassioned line!

Oh, and of course there was the dramatic line: “Tonight, Hell freezes over”, as well as, “First I will turn Gotham into an icy graveyard. Then I will pull Batman’s heart from his body, and feel it freeze in my hands. Ah… ha ha ha! Revenge!” All, such classics.
