Ponies

First up this week is spy thriller, Ponies. Created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson and starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, the show follows the story of two secretaries in 1977 who become CIA operatives.
Describing the new series, Peacock said: “Moscow, 1977. Two ‘PONIES’ (persons of no interest) work anonymously as secretaries in the American Embassy. That is until their husbands are killed under mysterious circumstances in the USSR, and the pair become CIA operatives.
“Bea (Emilia Clarke) is an over-educated, Russian-speaking child of Soviet immigrants. Her cohort, Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), is a small-town girl who is as abrasive as she is fearless.
“Together, they work to uncover a vast Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.”
Should you wish to check out Ponies, the new series begins streaming on Peacock from January 15th.

TV Gold…
The X-Files

Over to TV Gold now, which this week zeroes in on iconic ’90s show, The X-Files. Created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the show follows the story of two FBI agents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, as they investigate bizarre and inexplicable cases.
Some of these cases involve aliens, others focus on monsters, and most are weird, creepy, and compelling. There’s also an extensive and sometimes head-turning conspiracy which runs in the background of the series, which centres around a shadowy government plot.
When The X-Files first hit screens back in 1993 it was a huge success. A phenomenon in fact. And due to the popularity of the show it ran for nine seasons (and two movies).
If you’ve never watched The X-Files, or you haven’t watched it since the ’90s, now is a great opportunity to binge the heck out of the show. All nine seasons (and two movies) are currently available to stream on Disney+ and it really is some of the best TV you’ll ever watch.
