This month sees the release of sports comedy-drama, Marty Supreme. The film – directed by Josh Safdie – stars Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, and Fran Drescher, and follows the story of real-life table tennis player, Marty Reisman.
The early buzz on Marty Supreme has been very encouraging, with suggestions Chalamet’s performance is one of his best. And although the film has yet to go on general release, it has already received three Golden Globe nominations suggesting it is likely to be a much-talked about picture this holiday season.
But before the movie opens, who is it suitable for? Timothée Chalamet is a popular actor, especially amongst younger audiences, but is Marty Supreme one that can be watched by any age group?
Let’s take a look at the rating.

Marty Supreme UK age rating

In the UK, Marty Supreme has been granted a ’15’ certificate by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). The movie has received this certificate due to “strong language, sex, nudity, injury detail (and) violence.”
In the UK, a movie with a ’15’ certificate is deemed suitable for audiences aged 15 or over. No one under the age of 15 is permitted to watch the movie at a UK cinema.
With this rating the BBFC is pretty clear on who Marty Supreme is suitable for. Those aged 15 or over are fine to watch the movie in a UK cinema, while those who are younger than 15 will not be allowed.

Marty Supreme US age rating

In the US, Marty Supreme has been given an ‘R’ rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The movie has received this rating due to language, sexual content, some violent content/bloody images, and nudity.
In the US, anyone can watch an ‘R’ rated movie in a theatre, but those aged under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. That said, while audiences of any age can watch the film (with accompaniment), parents are advised to be cautious as some material may not be suitable for all ages.
If in doubt, check out the movie first before younger members of the household take a look!
