In 1952, British actress Rosemary Harris appeared in the television movie, A Cradle of Willow. From here she played a role in Beau Brummell, before going on to appear in Shakespeare adaptations of Othello and Twelfth Night.

As the years moved on, Harris would appear in movies such as The Boys From Brazil and The Gift. She also took on the role of Aunt May in three Spider-Man movies, which brought the actress to a whole new generation of movie lovers.

Into the 1990s and Harris began the decade in The Bridge, before appearing in Tom & Viv. Other films during this decade included Hamlet and Death of a Salesman.

As the ‘90s eventually gave way to the 2000s, Harris took a small role in director Sam Raimi’s thriller, The Gift. Two years later, Raimi brought her back for his comic book movie, Spider-Man, where she played the key role of Aunt May – the aunt of Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Harris would go on to reprise the role of May Parker for two further Spider-Man movies in 2004 and 2007.
