Movies to watch after you see The Running Man (2025)

The Running Man (1987)

Paul Michael Glaser directs this ’80s dystopian action film about a man who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit and forced to take part in a deadly reality TV show. Loosely adapted from a Stephen King novel, Arnold Schwarzenegger leads The Running Man, alongside a cast which includes María Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, and Richard Dawson. (101 mins)

The Long Walk (2025)

Another dystopian story based on a Stephen King tale, only this time involving walking. Francis Lawrence directs The Long Walk – a movie about a group of fifty boys who take part in a televised walking marathon, where only the last man standing wins the prize and keeps their life! (108 mins)

The Hunger Games (2012)

Yet more dystopian drama, this time via Gary Ross’ action film about teens forced to compete in a televised fight to the death. Based on the book series of the same name by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and Elizabeth Banks. (142 mins)

Baby Driver (2017)

The Running Man director Edgar Wright calls the shots on this action thriller about a getaway driver caught up in trouble he can’t escape from. Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jon Hamm, and Jamie Foxx star in Baby Driver. (113 mins)

They Live (1988)

John Carpenter directs this satirical sci-fi film about a drifter who uncovers a sinister plot involving aliens taking over the planet through the use of subliminal messages in mass media. Roddy Piper, Keith David, and Meg Foster star. (94 mins)

Twisters (2024)

And finally, The Running Man‘s leading man, Glen Powell takes the lead in this action disaster movie, which itself is a standalone sequel to 1996’s Twister. Lee Isaac Chung directs. (122 mins)
