This November, director Ruben Fleischer’s action-adventure thriller, Now You See Me, Now You Don’t is heading to cinemas. The film – the latest entry in the Now You See Me movie series – follows the story of a group of retired illusionists who reunite alongside some new performers to steal a priceless diamond.

Describing the movie, Lionsgate said: “The Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film.”

The previous Now You See Me movies have proved popular with audiences of all ages, and it’s likely this new offering will too. However, two questions remain: What is the age rating for Now You See Me, Now You Don’t and will everyone be able to watch the new film at the cinema, irrespective of age?

Let’s take a look at the age rating.

Now You See Me, Now You Don’t UK age rating

In the UK, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has awarded Now You See Me, Now You Don’t a ’12A’ certificate. The movie has received this rating from the BBFC due to “moderate violence, injury detail, sex reference, (and) infrequent strong language.”

If a film is awarded a ’12A’ certificate in the UK, it means the BBFC believe the film is most suitable for audiences aged 12 and over. However, should anyone under the age of 12 wish to watch the movie, they can, so long as they are accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

So, if you’re children are aged 8 and 10 (for example), they love magic, and adore the Now You See Me movies, they can watch the film, no problem, as long as you tag along too!

Over to the US now, where the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has granted Now You See Me, Now You Don’t a ‘PG-13’ rating. The film has received this rating for language, some action and sexual content.

In the US, if a film is given a ‘PG-13’ rating it means some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. As such, the MPAA advises parents to be cautious.

However, anyone of any age is allowed to watch a ‘PG-13’ in a US cinema. So, similar to the UK age rating, Now You See Me, Now You Don’t can be watched by all!

And as an added bit of information worth noting, in the UK all the Now You See Me movies have been rated ’12A’, while in the US all the Now You See Me movies have been rated ‘PG-13’. So, if you want to check the suitability of the movies, you can always take a look at the previous entries to get an understanding of the tone and content of this latest offering.

And now you know!
