In 2012, the found footage movie, V/H/S slotted it’s way into the lives of movie fans. The anthology horror film, composed of a collection of horror shorts, was designed to entertain and scare audiences witless.
Built around a central framing narrative, which acted as its own short tale, the film contained five additional shorts all written and directed by different creative talents. Each short also included its own set of characters, as well as lashings of blood curdling horror!
Due to the popularity of V/H/S a series of V/H/S sequels and spin-offs soon followed. Some of the films were linked, others not so much.
But how many V/H/S movies are there and what is the order of the movies? For all the gruesome details and more, read on!

The V/H/S movies

V/H/S (2012)
As noted above, the first entry in the V/H/S movie series made its debut in 2012. The film featured a collection of six short horror tales including ‘Tape 56‘ (the framing narrative), ‘Amateur Night‘, ‘Second Honeymoon‘, ‘Tuesday the 17th‘, ‘The Sick Thing That Happened to Emily When She Was Younger‘ and ‘10/31/98‘.
V/H/S/2 (2013)
The second V/H/S movie debuted in 2013, appropriately titled V/H/S/2. This film included the shorts ‘Tape 49‘ (the framing narrative), ‘Phase I Clinical Trials‘, ‘A Ride in the Park‘, ‘Safe Haven‘, and ‘Slumber Party Alien Abduction‘.
V/H/S: Viral (2014)
With the first two instalments proving to be a hit with horror fans, a third V/H/S movie arrived in 2014, this time under the title V/H/S: Viral. The shorts in this movie included ‘Vicious Circles‘ (the framing narrative), ‘Dante the Great‘, ‘Parallel Monsters‘, and ‘Bonestorm‘.
This movie also included an additional short, ‘Goregous Vortex‘, which was cut from the main section of the film (as it didn’t fit the overall theme), but was included as a Blu-ray and DVD extra which played after the end credits.
SiREN (2016)
With three films firmly in the series, the V/H/S franchise began to branch out with a spin-off movie. Released in 2016, under the title SiREN, the film was a feature-length adaptation of ‘Amateur Night‘ which appeared in 2012’s V/H/S.

V/H/S/94 (2021)
Back to the main series for this next film, which was conceived as both a soft reboot and a prequel to the previous V/H/S films. The movie, titled V/H/S/94, included the shorts ‘Holy Hell‘ (the framing narrative), ‘Storm Drain‘, ‘The Empty Wake‘, ‘The Subject‘, and ‘Terror‘.
Kids vs. Aliens (2022)
Another departure from the main series for this next instalment, 2022’s Kids vs. Aliens. This film was created as the second spin-off, and was essentially a feature-length adaptation of ‘Slumber Party Alien Abduction‘ from V/H/S/2.

V/H/S/99 (2022)
The next movie arrived in 2022 under the title V/H/S/99. The film was created as a sequel to V/H/S/94 and included the shorts ‘Shredding‘, ‘Suicide Bid‘, ‘Ozzy’s Dungeon‘, ‘The Gawkers‘, and ‘To Hell and Back‘.
Unlike the previous entries in the V/H/S movie series, this film did not include a framing narrative.
V/H/S/85 (2023)
Onto the next V/H/S movie, 2023’s V/H/S/85. The shorts this time around include ‘Top Copy‘ (the framing narrative), ‘No Wake‘, ‘God of Death‘, ‘TKNOGD‘, ‘Ambrosia‘, and ‘Dreamkill‘.

V/H/S/Beyond (2024)
With the V/H/S movie series continuing to prove extremely durable, another entry arrived in 2024. Titled V/H/S/Beyond, this film included the shorts ‘Abduction/Adduction‘ (the framing narrative), ‘Stork‘, ‘Dream Girl‘, ‘Live and Let Dive‘, ‘Fur Babies‘, and ‘Stowaway‘.
V/H/S/Halloween (2025)
Following the success of V/H/S/Beyond, yet another V/H/S movie was released in 2025. Titled V/H/S/Halloween focused on collection of Halloween-themed shorts: ‘Diet Phantasma’ (framing narrative), ‘Coochie Coochie Coo’, ‘Ut Supra Sic Infra’, ‘Fun Size’, ‘Kidprint’, and ‘Home Haunt’.
