This month Leonardo DiCaprio returns to cinema screens with his new movie, One Battle After Another. The crime thriller – from writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson – tells the story of a group of ex-revolutionaries who reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own.

With a cast that includes Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, and the aforementioned DiCaprio, One Battle After Another is a highly anticipated release. As such, many will be keeping their eyes on its cinematic debut to see if it is one to watch.

One Battle After Another US age rating

In the US, One Battle After Another has received an ‘R’ rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The film has received this rating due to pervasive language, violence, sexual content, and drug use.

In the US, an ‘R’ rated movie means it is ‘restricted’. The ‘restriction’ is that anyone under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian if they wish to see this film at the cinema.

However, despite this restriction, any one of any age can watch an ‘R’ rated movie at the cinema. It is up to audience to decide the film’s suitability, based on the information supplied.

One Battle After Another UK age rating

Over in the UK, things are a little more clear cut as One Battle After Another has been granted a ‘15’ certificate by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). The film has received this certificate due to “strong language, sexual references, violence, (and) references to sexual violence.”

In the UK, only audiences aged 15 or over are permitted to watch a 15 certificate movie in a UK cinema. Anyone under this age is unable to view the film on the big screen.

This rating suggests One Battle After Another is suitable for audiences aged from 15 and up. It is not suitable for all ages.
