Wishmaster (1997)

As noted above, the first entry in the series was 1997’s Wishmaster. The film focused on a young woman who accidentally releases an ancient djinn in contemporary times.

In the movie, an evil djinn is trapped in an opal in 1127. Fast forward to 1997, and that same gemstone is discovered, stolen, and taken to an auctioneers.

When the stone is appraised by Alexandra Amberson, the Djinn is freed from his prison. He then sets about granting wishes to all who cross his path, but each wish has a deadly outcome. (90 mins)

Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999)

In the second instalment in the series, Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies, the Djinn is once again freed from imprisonment. Back in the real world he assumes the identity of a human named Nathaniel Demerest, but is quickly sent to prison.

While behind bars, Nathaniel begins to grant wishes to unsuspecting inmates. Following suit with the previous film, each wish has dire consequences for all involved. (97 mins)

Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell (2001)

In movie no. 3, Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell, the Djinn is freed from his prison once more. After assuming the identity of a dead professor, he sets about granting more wishes while working on his objective to bring Hell on Earth. (92 mins)

Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled (2002)

In Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled, the Djinn is released from his prison for a fourth time, and once again he sets about granting wishes. This time around, the Djinn takes on the identity of a disabled man, so he can manipulate the man’s girlfriend. (92 mins)
