Sue Storm from The Fantastic Four

First up, how about we start with Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, aka the MVP of the Fantastic Four. Sue appeared in this year’s Marvel blockbuster, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and helped her teammates wipe the floor with the planet-devouring Galactus.

Now, of course you can’t turn invisible like Sue, but you can don a blue and white costume like Vanessa Kirby wears in the film. And from there, don’t just imagine yourself as fantastic, be fantastic!

Steve from A Minecraft Movie

If you build it, they will come. And if you dress like Steve you won’t need to spend too much money on your costume, but you will be a hit with Minecraft fans.

Played by Jack Black in this year’s smash-hit video game adaptation, A Minecraft Movie, Steve is the go-to-guy when it comes to crafting… and inventing Lava Chicken. Steve’s look is a simple look, but one that shouldn’t be difficult to pull off.

Aunt Gladys from Weapons

Has there been a movie this year as scary as Weapons? And more importantly, has there been a scarier character than Aunt Gladys?!

Popping up in Weapons as a somewhat hidden character, Gladys is without doubt the most unusual, unnerving, and iconic horror foe this year. There’s something very unsettling about Gladys, and if you really want to cause a stir over Halloween, a Gladys-inspired costume is how you do it.

Huntr/x from KPop Demon Hunters

Looking for a themed costume for you and two friends? Then how about you delve into the world of KPop Demon Hunters for inspiration?

The animated musical fantasy film proved to be a big hit for Netflix during the summer, and if you’re looking for costume ideas for not one, not two, but three, then why not transform yourselves into Huntr/x, aka Rumi, Mira, and Zoey? You don’t need to belt out songs like these gals, you simply need to imitate their style and swagger.

And if you need to expand the theme beyond three characters to a much wider group, then look no further than Huntr/x’s rivals, the Saja Boys.

Mister Terrific from Superman

Back to costumed crime fighters for this next Halloween costume idea – the DC Universe hero, Mister Terrific. Played by Edi Gathegi in Superman, Mister Terrific was the stand-out star of the film and one bad ass hero!

Toxie from The Toxic Avenger

One of the great things about getting dressed up for Halloween is pushing yourself to be as creative as possible. And sometimes this can mean utilising those costume and makeup skills you never knew you had.

Want to push your skills to the next level? Then how about you attempt a costume inspired by Toxie from The Toxic Avenger

If you opt for this one, you’re going to need a heap of green body paint and some prosthetics. A mop is also required.

M3GAN from M3GAN 2.0

She’s cute, she’s deadly, and she’s had an upgrade. She is of course M3GAN.

The killer robot returned to screens this year in the divisive M3GAN 2.0, but while the movie may not have worked for everyone, M3GAN’s makeover certainly did. M3GAN was a popular Halloween choice a couple years back, and now is the opportunity to revisit the blood-thirsty bot thanks to her new look.

Marvel Zombies from Marvel Zombies

This one seems like a no-brainer due to the limitless potential of the concept, which is essentially undead Marvel characters! Inspired by the comic book tales of the same name, as well as the new Disney+ animated show, Marvel Zombies presents a great opportunity to become an iconic Marvel hero (or villain) while at the same time throwing on as much zombie makeup to look dark, deadly, and decayed as possible!

This costume idea works fine if you’re flying solo, but also allows for a group effort. Gather together friends and create a zombie version of the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, or the Thunderbolts!

The Pedro Pascal posse

Another group costume idea, but not necessarily an obvious one. The theme here is Pedro Pascal.

The running gag this year is that actor Pedro Pascal seems to pop up in everything. The truth is, he’s had a busy few years and has bagged a number of TV and movie projects.

So, why not use Pascal’s hectic work schedule as inspiration for a group costume? Join forces with your mates and become the Pedro Pascal posse!

One of you could be the Mandalorian, another Mister Fantastic, another Joel Miller from The Last of Us, while a fourth could be Fink the fox from The Wild Robot. Don’t just be one Pedro, be all the Pedros.

The Monkey from The Monkey

And finally, back to horror for this next one, which is the incredibly creepy Monkey from the Osgood Perkins-directed horror movie, The Monkey. Think big grin, bashing cymbals, and an intense stare.

If you want to scare the heck out of people, then be sure to Monkey up.
